Bringing Green Indoors: Top Houseplant Picks from Liz.
With a Michigan Winter looming in the near future my thoughts have turned to making my home a haven for greenery and life. There are so many varieties of houseplants though, how do you choose just a few? Here are my top choices for easy houseplants to brighten your space.
Up first is the lovely but strong Aloe Vera Plant. This plant is a succulent that enjoys cactus soil mix with good drainage, lots of sunlight, and temps between 55 and 85 degrees. Aloe Vera is easy to care for, it requires deep watering but only every so often. Allow the soil to completely dry out between watering and then fully saturate it. In Winter months it hardly needs watering at all and will be the perfect accent to any room. Aloe Vera can also be used medicinally and it is worth researching its many benefits.

Ferns are my next pick, specifically Boston Ferns. These plants are best grown in hanging planters in a space that allows plenty of room for their long frauds to grow. They enjoy humidity and light mistings along with regular watering and morning sun. Keep them away from hot air vents and dry spaces and they will reward you with their full wild displays of green.
My final choice is the Jade Plant. Jade plants are easy to care for as long as they are given proper sunlight and you pay attention to their watering needs. Jade plants should never be allowed to fully dry out, water them when the top of the soil feels dry and don’t overwater them or they can get root rot. Make sure they are kept in a space with full sun and rotated every so often. Thats it! Jade plants are considered lucky, care for them and they will bring you joy.

Good luck on your houseplant journeys. With a little care, research, and love your plants will thrive and you will reap the benefits of having them around.
